89a230f013b379e218fde4d9141974aeAs the saying goes “Charity Begins at Home,” and sometimes a major tragedy or something life changing happens that really affects someone personally, this can be the catalyst to doing some even greater than ourselves. This seems to be the case with Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., better known to his fans as Common. As a result of the lose of his cousin, he found a way to honor him that would allow his name to live on forever. Also, in the process of honoring his cousin, there would also be the opportunity to help others.

On Thursday, September 8, 2011, Rapper/Actor Common along with Mattie Turner held an eventhonoring the Ajile L. Turner Foundation. The event was held at the Sheraton in Brooklyn and allowed others the opportunity to be a part of ushc a great effort to raise money.
The Ajile L. Turner Foundation was set up by Ms. Mattie Turner (Ajile’s mother) and Common (Ajile’s cousin) to honor Ajile Turner. When he was alive, Ajile, was a tremendous influence to his family and the people around him. He impacted others when he was on the earth and is now impacting many others after his untimely death. The organization exists to empower young people and provide opportunities for them to reach their goals. Their goal is to provide scholarships to deserving youth to help further their educational goals.

It is a legacy left by Ajile Turner and one that his family and friends will continue to honor to keep his vision alive. For more information on how to donate, visit the website or contact them via email at:felicia@ajilelturnerfoundation.org
