Actress Regina Taylor Directing a Play at Signature Theater in New York

2249736741814683417cf38254471b15As larger upcoming theater productions come to Broadway, there are a few independent stage plays debuting around the city. With that said, there is a new play from Residency Five actress and playwright Regina Taylor that comes to New York on August 20th. The Golden Globe and NAACP Image award winning actress presents a play entitled stop.reset.

Although, Regina Taylor is mostly know to her fans an outstanding dramatic actress in television series such as: “I’ll Fly Away.” and “The Unit”, but in this role she writes and directs the play. She also has an impressive amount of credits on the big screen.

 The stop.reset story takes places in Chicago around the life of Alex Ames, who is the owner of Chicago’s oldest African American book publishing company. Mr. Ames has a dilemma. As e-books outsell printed books, he finds that he must question each of his employees to determine who is still relevant in a rapidly changing world. When he meets J, a mysterious youth who works as a janitor and is plugged into the future, Mr. Ames is forced to discover just how far he will go to survive. The play stop. reset. asks powerful questions of legacy, identity and survival in a world where the real and the virtual are more closely tied than we think.

The cast includes: Michi Barall (Signature’s Queens Boulevard, An Oresteia) as Deb, Teagle Bougere (Wings, A Raisin in the Sun) as Chris, Ismael Cruz Cordova (“Sesame Street”) as J., LaTanya Richardson Jackson (The Fighting Temptations) as Jan, Carl Lumbly (Jitney, “Alias”) as Alex Ames and Donald Sage MacKay (“Scrubs”) as Tim.

All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. The production runs August 20 through September 29, 2013 with a September 8 opening night inThe Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).
