If you haven’t yet, had the chance to see Nas: Time Is Illmatic yet, it is definitely a must see film. The documentary is directed by multimedia artist One9 and written by Erik Parker. The story documents and revisits the release of Nas’s groundbreaking debut album ‘Illmatic’ twenty years later.

Movie and music fans alike are sure to enjoy Nas’ candid stories of his upbringing in Queensbridge, the people who inspired him and the challenges he faced before signing with a major label at age 19. Audiences will also hear directly from Nas’s family, friends and peers (like Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys!) about his transformation from a young street poet to hip hop icon.

Twenty years after the release of this groundbreaking album, Nas takes us into the heart of his creative process.  Returning to his childhood home in Queensbridge, Nas shares stories of his upbringing, his influences — from the music of his jazz musician father Olu Dara to the burgeoning hip-hop scene in New York City — and the obstacles he faced before his major label signing at age 20. Featuring interviews with his ‘Illmatic’ producers (Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, L.E.S., and DJ Premier) and musical peers (including Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys), NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC is a thrilling account of Nas’s evolution from a young street poet to a visionary MC.

Writer Erik Parker has worked as a music journalist for over fifteen years. He served as music editor for The Source and VIBE magazines. Parker is a graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism and has written for XXL, Rolling Stone, The Village Voice and other notable outlets. Aside from his work as a print journalist, Parker produced MTV Jams’ The Parker Report, a TV show that gathered hip-hop’s leading voices to discuss issues surrounding music, culture and politics. He is always on the lookout for a good story to tell.

Founded in 2006 by Kia Vonvega, Clear Boutique’s new collection of drop-dead gorgeous dresses, pants suits and sultry bikinis were an instant hit with woman looking to make a bold sexy statement with flattering fits. Soon, celebrity women were hitting the clubs in Clear Boutique wear. Patterns, vibrant prints, contemporary cuts and mesh details adorn Kia’s work in every luxurious quality dress and bespoke bikini. The brains – and body – behind the collection, celebrity designer Kia, says she wanted to design “something that would let women show off their bodies, feel sexy and confident, flirty and glamorous all at the same time while transitioning from beautiful day wear into night wear.” Kia searched for unique fabrics, added embellishments and experimented with sexy cuts. The pieces are based on a look from day to night with a fit that feels just right. The clientele love the body-flattering design of these dresses, the mesh hollow out is avant-garde and very sensuous.

Kia’s passion for couture kicked in at an early age. Kia’s grandfather was the first black male to turn into production a pair of jeans in the island country of Trinidad. Picking from his innovations, Kia shaped her knowledge of sewing and fashion with femininity and sensuality, boudoir-inspired lines, vibrant colors, grabbing the attention of the fashion, media and celebrity worlds. If you are on hunt for a sassy new dress or bikini that shows off your every curve or you want to make a statement and express your individual style and attitude, then bring your sense of fun over to the iconic Clear Boutique.
